Hello everyone, This is an update on the Iron Fish mining ecosystem. Decentralization is a key part of Iron Fish. We’ve been monitoring the network’s hashrate since mainnet launch and here’s an update on what we’re seeing: 👉 There is a pretty big hashrate disparity among known pools 👉 We’re seeing 30-40% of unknown hashrate (https://miningpoolstats.stream/ironfish) 👉 We have not seen any evidence of mining attacks on the network Hashrate Disparity Herominers gained a majority hashrate at launch by providing technical optimizations and education for miners. That majority has sustained itself through today. We applaud Hero for their engineering efforts and for bringing attention to technical optimizations that the team was unaware of. However, Iron Fish requires multiple strong pools to promote decentralization. With just one strong known pool, the network risks becoming too centralized. Payouts between pools are currently very competitive even if the hash % does not reflect it. @strongbob has done a great analysis of mining rewards across pools as can be read on ⛏mining channel on Discord: If you are a miner and choosing between pools, please support pools that have competitive payouts and a lower hashrate % so that we can further our goal of decentralization. Unknown Hashrate We do not know where the unknown hashrate is coming from. There is no clear evidence that it’s coming from any known pool, and we don’t see it as a security issue. If you have any information about where the hashrate is coming from, please tag an IF Labs or Iron Fish Foundation team member. Iron Fish is the only decentralized privacy platform capable of supporting native and non-native private assets. Thank you all for your support in building a healthy mining community and promoting decentralization. You are what’s making Iron Fish resilient and unstoppable.
